As I was watching the video, I was wondering what tool you used to remember the information you discovered about gaming? I tried to video myself as you did, but I just couldn't remember what I wanted to say when I needed to say it.
Lori, I have to admit that I cheated a little. I memorized all of my information, but I did have the words behind the camera person. Filming in a computer lab, I was able to put the words on the SmartBoard to make sure that I stayed on point and got the information as I intended.
I am not so sure that basic skills and information can be taught with games. Role playing games require higher level thinking skills and application of basic knowledge, so teaching using the game would be more difficult.
Thanks. This was my first time making a video and I have to admit that I am somewhat proud of myself. I was able to play around a little to get it the way I wanted and I thought it turned out well.
Overall, your video was great. The only suggestion I have is to increase the volume at times it was difficult for me to hear you. The information was well organize and your scene transition very smoothly.
After watching, I wished I had done a few more close ups than I did. This probably would have helped with the volume. However, when I imported the video into the movie making application, I could not alter the volume of the clip. Was all of it hard to hear or just portions?
It was nice meeting with you an John syschronously to share our videos. Thank you.
I find your video quite impressive. The music as part of the transition from frame to frame provides a good method to keep the watcher's attention. The sub titles smartly introduced new topics. Being in a classroom which is also a computer lab invites the possibility of integration of at least screen shots of selected games or some demonstration on the board for more captivating impact.
Your video is a success for which you can built further endeavors. Best wishes.

Do you think gaming should be used to teach basic concepts? If so, would that be something that would be appropriate for all grade levels?
